6/1/2023 0 Comments Dell xps 13 2012 won bootThankfully I have a desktop I built myself that I can play games on, just nothing easily portable to take with me to work. I also have a G series desktop that my mom has that is running fine, and an Inspithat works but is about 8 years old.Īfter buying 5 computers over a decade from dell I think I am done. I also have an Alienware R3 15 that needs a new battery, and an older Alienware 13 that needs a system restore to get working again. Needless to say I currently own a 1400 dollar 13 inch brick. First off I want to see them try remote diagnostics on a laptop that won't post, secondly I do not think I should pay 1/4th the price of the laptop for an issue they caused by forcing an update through. They then say that there is nothing they can do for free, but they will sell me remote diagnostic support for about 300 dollars. I tell them I can get there but the bios won't restore. They then instruct me to force the bios recovery screen. They first asked me to get into the bios screen and tell them what codes come up, I reply saying yeah it wont boot into the bios. Now the laptop is out of warranty, but this issue is from an update they forced onto the computer. I have tried plugging a bootable drive into the computer to restore the bios but it does not get far enough along in the boot to do that.Īfter searching online I decided to ask dell for help. Did some research and figured out Dell will not allow you to restore and downgrade a bios if the update was a security update. If you choose either option to Reset the bios or recover the bios both end with the Message Bios recovery failed due to unauthorized downgrade and then the computer restarts back to the same screen. The screen is not blank, it flashes the Dell system Laptop technician: Aaron Brown Your Windows boot system is damaged. The case is well built, extremely compact, and sturdy at the same time. The bios update failed and now when you turn on the computer it won't boot into the bios regardless of how many times you mash F12 or F2, and instead boots into the bios Recovery menu. The new leaves a very good impression in our review. In that update were Bios updates to fix an intel security issue. About 2 weeks ago my brother borrowed my XPS laptop and he restarted the computer which forced updates to install.
